Phewa Lake, is a freshwater lake located in the southern Pokhara Valley that includes the city of Pokhara and part of Sarangkot and Kashikot. The lake is fed by a stream but a dam regulates the water reserves, therefore is classified as a semi-natural freshwater lake. It is the second largest lake in Nepal and the largest in the Gandaki provinve. It is located at an altitude of 742 m and has an area of about 5.7 km2. The lake is also famous for the reflection of Mount Machhapuchhre and other mountain peaks in the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges on its surface.
On 16/03/2016 at 7:35 a.m. I returned to the lake after several days of bad wheather. I waited severel hoursof non-visibility due to a thick fog that was weighing down the landscape. In a matter of seconds it was vanished by the rising sun and allowed me to capture a community fisherman merging with the immensity of the snow-capped HImalaya’s peaks reflected in Phewa Lake.
