Vintage Design
Table lamp with base stem and lampshade realized in lacquered and chromed metal, designed by Oscar Torlasco, Italian Manufacture 1950s. The Roman designer Oscar Torlasco was mostly known for his lamps that diffuse soft light through optical glass lenses, he established himself between the 1950s and the 1960s designing for several Italian companies specializing in lighting, such as Esperia, Stilux and Stilkronen. His most recognizable creations, such as the industrial-style lamps made of brass and lacquered metal with adjustable light beams, are produced by the Italian company Lumi, while Fabbrica Illuminazione Greco produces the Genova 4053 street lamp for Torlasco, with which he won the Compasso d’Oro in 1959. Metal is the common denominator of his pieces and it’s also used by Torlasco for lamps and chandeliers with a much more eclectic taste generally combined with other materials such marble, Murano glass and crystal.
