About the artist:
Eigen studied ceramics at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School and Alfred University. A professor at the School of Fine Arts University of Costa Rica from 1973 until 1976 with work featured in two exhibits sponsored by the U.S. department of Cultural Affairs in San Jose. Eigen then founded Eigen Arts in 1977 in a NYC Soho loft specializing in creating fun, fresh, original shapes and colors. Eigen Arts ceramics were sold in stores and catalogues in the U.S., Japan and Canada and were seen in magazines such as Metropolitan Home, Martha Stewart Living and Bon appetit. Eigen is also known for having designed dinnerware for Crate & Barrel, Williams-Sonoma and Pottery Barn. Eigen worked on pottery until the closing of Eigen Arts in 2015.
