Vintage Design
A gorgeous pair of crystal sconces made in a collaboration between Danish light manufacturer LYFA and the Swedish glasswork Orrefors in the 1960s in great vintage condition. Often attributed to Swedish designer Carl Fagerlund. Each of these beautiful sconces are made of a thick mold-blown clear crystal glass, curved to form a half circle and held in place by two brass screws. Behind the crystal glass sits a thin polished brass wall mounting, slightly smaller than the glass piece. The crystal glass pieces feature an embossed pattern of bubbles on the front side, and a faceted pattern on the backside for diffusing light. When these Venus sconces are lit, the richly textured crystal glass creates a soft illumination and spreads the emitted light in every direction. Hollywood Regency meets Scandinavian modernism and the sconces would fit perfectly as accent lights in a living room or hallway, as bedside lights or even in an office space – no matter where you would place them, they are enchanting pieces of Scandinavian glass design. This pair of Venus wall lights are in excellent vintage condition with minimal signs of usage and age. No chips, cracks or other damage to the glass, and few signs of usage and age on the polished brass parts.
