In Inle Lake there are 200 cities and villages, mostly populated by the Intha (children of the Lake).
The most populous city in the surrounding area is Nyaung Swe (Yawnghwe), wich has a 4 m deep channel to the Nankand Channel. The lake is used, cultivated and its water form channels between these cultivation areas. On one of its banks is the Phaung Daw U pagoda, one of the three main ones in Myanmar built in the 18th century and containing Buddha images from the 12th century.
On 11/13/2012 at 8:00 a.m., after several daystouring the lake by canoe with local natives, this fisherman in traditional clothing caught my attention. The red color of his skirt and his rowing stance reflect his strengh and determination to survive on Inle Lake.
